Spicy Broccoli Poppers by Mia Rigden

Yield: 2-4 Servings
Spicy, savory, doughy, these little broccoli poppers are so darn good, and a great alternative to tempura or other deep fried foods. If you have an air fryer, they will get nice and crispy, but I make them in a regular oven and they taste great.

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together the flour, water and 1 tablespoon of the sesame seeds in a medium-sized mixing bowl.
  3. Dip the broccoli florets in the flour mixture one by one, place on the baking sheet, and bake for 10 minutes.
  4. While the broccoli is in the oven, whisk together the miso and tamari in a medium-sized mixing bowl until combined, then add the lime juice, coconut aminos, sesame seed oil, chili flakes and remaining sesame seeds.
  5. After 10 minutes, take the broccoli out of the oven and mix the hot broccoli with the sauce until well combined. Place the broccoli back on the baking sheet and bake for 10 more minutes.
  6. Turn the oven to broil, and broil for an additional 2-5 minutes, checking every minute to make sure the broccoli does not burn.
